Everybody is sick and tired hearing and reading about the infamous coronavirus COVID-19, yet nobody can ignore the tremendous ripple effect this virus has, disrupting the slightest things in our lives, despite its alleged moderate potential effects on our health. At least for rather young and healthy people.
According to a STATISTA worldwide Survey dated end of 2019 and based on 2,718 responses from risk management experts in 102 countries, the prime concern is about cyberattacks. Health crises are feared second. The irony about this is that a biological virus is wreaking more havoc than the dreaded computer virus.
While there still is great uncertainty in public opinion about the danger of this virus, ranging from nothing worse than a cold, a flu up to whatever fantasy puts at maximum scale, what is certain is that the COVID-19 is peculiarly harmful to politicians, economy and Supply Chains.
The yet already proven effects of COVID-19
COVID-19 destroys what trust is left in politicians. The virus leads them to act with low rationality and confuse their speeches (more than usual).
COVID-19 attacks the central nervous system of national economies (stock markets) and leads to a significant drop of cash pressure.
COVID-19 triggers panic attacks making otherwise rational people stockpile the most incredible assortment of goods like toilet paper, cans of chickpea, mineral water or pasta.
COVID-19 leads to heavy addiction to hydroalcoholic gel to a point where otherwise normal people are turned into hydroalcoholic gel-junkies able to rob hospital inventories or pharmacies.
COVID-19 induces another addiction to surgical masks to a point where otherwise normal people are turned into masks-junkies able to rob hospital inventories or pharmacies.
COVID-19 led to the postponement of the marathon of Paris, while Disneyland Paris must be immune and goes on with business as usual (at least until March 11th, 2020, moment of writing this post).
COVID-19 led to forbid any gathering of 4,000 people (3,999 is ok) reduced to 1,000. But as you already learned, the virus leads politicians to act with low rationality and confuse their speeches.
The list may go on, but you’re already sick and tired about all the fuss so I stop here.
